    Default locker question

i want to run a locker in my cherokee but am concerned with the dana thirty five axle. am i asking for trouble by just getting a locker without hardened axleshafts or anything? i am only running 31s. it would be an aussie locker.

you will probably be ok with 31's and the locker.
any bigger of a tire and you could run into problems.

I'd have to agree with you. I know someone with a aussie in a D35 under a ZJ. He runs 31s and hasn't yet had any problems. I'm just waiting for the day that ring/pinion or a shaft says "I'm Done!".

    Can you? Yes.
Would I? Hell no... but of couse this is coming from someone who spent countless hours and money had a perfect XJ D44 all set to go under his rig, only to sell it to start over with D60s. (Yes, its me, and I am doing that)

Are you planning on every 'stepping' up those 31s? If so, take some time, search for and XJ D44 and put the money into something worthwhile. However, if not (or if you'd like to retain your ABS if you have it without a major ton of custom fab, [XJ's ABS isn't great anyway]) I think you'll be fine with the D35. Just stay of the skinny pedal and keep the rubber on the tires and not in two nice lines on the road and you might be ok... 8)

As long as you stay with the 31's and stay off the skinny pedal it should live fine.
