    Connector for front locker question?

I have one of the black connector harness with the red tab (to separate) that goes into my front locker.
It appears that i have sheered the wires and it is just dangling there.

My question, can i just cut the black connectors out and replace with something i can get
at the auto part store like the pic attached? Or is there more to that connector that i am not aware of?

If it's the wire not the connector that's damaged, I'd use a "butt crimp" & "heat shrink with glue liner" solution rather than a new connector. No pic of the actual damage in your case, so hard to tell from your description if that's a possible approach.

okay it's the connector to the plunger on the diff... lets see if these pics help explain any.

From the this pic you can see where i sheered the 2 wires. The zip tie is just holding up the other end off the wiring harness.

I was hoping to just cut out the old connectors and replace. So you think no issue's with butt crimp and heat shrink.

Is this what you need? Couple different options on brand...

That is it... I'm just not comfortable taking out the gears to replace.
Never pulled gears, and from what i understand it can be tricky getting back exactly.

That plunger looks like it just screws into the housing to me.

My thought was not to replace the connector with a butt splice, but to fix the cut in the wire and keep the connector - if there was enough wire to do so (need at least 1/2 to 3/4" of wire on each side to work with)

I see, well if you wanted you could cut the wires of the new one and splice them to the old plunger and it would work fine, assuming you do a good quality splice job.

You gotta pop the carrier out to properly engage the plunger....

See, if he was open he wouldn't have this problem. :)

lol! Best argument I've heard in favor of an open diff for a while.
