Will do. Iím staying the night in Telluride for a required 7am start up Black Bear, a few from the group will make the hour drive from Ouray earlier in the morning.
I can see a few different challenges traveling up Black Bear like backing up to the edge of the cliff on the switchbacks opposed to having the nose towards the edge. After the switchbacks traveling up the steps could be interesting as well.

We may not be able to run Black Bear this year. San Miguel County has 2 bulldozers working in the high country at the same time. They rotate 3-4 operators focused on removing snow. They only have 9 operators and they still have to maintain the lower roads so their spread thin.

Black Bear Pass will not be open anytime in July however, it will be open in August...just don't know when. Iíll be in Colorado Springs on July 31st and Telluride August 4 the date we are scheduled to run BB backwards. Aminas Forks had 100í of snow dumped from an avalanche.

As of Monday the operators are currently opening Engineers Pass and Corkscrew Pass. Yankee Boy Basin and Red Mt Town Loop are open.

Very well. A friend drove down there to check on conditions before our trail ride and said the town is clear of snow. However, the road from Silverton to Animas Forks ghost town is blocked with snow but expect that to be clear before our trail ride.

    Pics from yesterday.

He had to take this indirect route to Animas Forks ghost town. This next picture is the road that goes directly back to Silverton. As you can see their is a large avalanche that is still blocking the road.

    California Pass

There's been a tremendous amount of snow and avalanches this year. A lot of mature trees were taken down by avalanches.

    Hurricane pass.

Top of Hurricane pass. That is Lake Como still frozen in July.

Snow blocking 550 side of Black Bear Pass.
