signed (#55) pet. Will letters from out of state people be recognized? If so, I'll send one out Monday.
Posted a link on our local club, I'm hopeful a few folks will send letters, but I am sure some will at least sign the petition.

Out of state letters will be recognized as well. The out of state letters show that this isnt just a small issue that affects a single town, but a national issue that many people feel strongly about.

I am not a resident of NH, but, I find it disconcerting that one group of enthusiasts can try to claim public land for their use and only their use. Public land is that, public. Please keep the road open year round for all to enjoy.

I signed the petition (#90) and will write a email also, as I am new to the area and hope to enjoy these class 6 roads. Never had this LEGAL wheeling in any other state I lived in, I think it is great and people don't have any reason to do any illegal wheeling.

signed petition and will be mailing this letter
Board of Selectmen
Barrington, NH
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my concern about the recent proposed addition to the agenda for the Jan, 26th meeting concerning the closure of Old Green Hill Rd.
I would like to voice my opinion against the closure of Old Green Hill Rd in Barrington. The road provides enjoyment and utility to many user groups all year round. Class 6 roads are a part of the history of the great state of NH and it would be a shame to see one closed, especially one as widely used as Old Green Hill.
Just recently, a lot of work has been put into the road by other user groups. I feel that the road is in better condition now than it has been in many years. Illegal side trails were blocked, land owners concerns were addressed, and trash was removed. The residents truly care about this road.
In 2008, a local 4x4 group, ExploringNH, held a trail cleanup and removed over 150 tires and several dump-truck loads of garbage from the road. Many illegal trails were closed and blocked to discourage continued use. Land owners along the road as well as town officials were very pleased with the turnout. Since then, the trail has stayed clean and has been more enjoyable for everyone.
Land to wheel on is becoming more and more scarce, and in NH, Class 6 roads and private land are all we have left. It would be a shame to see this trail, an historic Class 6 road, be closed forever just to please one club of people that use the trail for ¼ of the year. As a participant in this clean up I felt great pride in helping to make this road more pleasant and enjoyable for everyone to use. I don't think it would be fair for it to be shut down for the exclusive use of just one club. I think that we all should work together to keep this road open to the public by keeping it maintained and respecting the landowners that surround it. Please keep it open for eveyone.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.
Sincerely, Paul B. Rowe
Dover, N.H.

I am so pissed off, if I ever meet the jerk who came up with the idea to close Old Green Hill Rd, I think I'd deck him! What a selfish person.
I am just venting here, but why dont we close down his road that he lives on to all vehicles... I'm sure he'd think twice about ever saying to close down ANYTHING!
ok, i'm done venting.
I'll go to the meeting if it will help to have us there in numbers, and I'll keep my mouth shut if I need to.

Not to add fuel to the fire but I emailed this guy during the summer to see if him and his club wanted to help out on the trail clean up and help end this snow mobilers vs the off roaders feud that has been going on for years.
What a big mistake that was, I could not believe the responses I got back from this guy...I was completely shocked to say the least.
I'm not going to post the email, his name or his club, but this guy definitely has some issues and absolutely hates the off roading community

#119.
letter written and emailed to town of barrington and to ryan.
I will make the 26th meeting if needed.
This road was the first road i have ever wheeled on. i was introduced to it by this group, and have learned a ton about my jeep and how to off-road here. was at the trail cleanup...and this would just be a hige hit of we lost this to a group that can only use it 25% of the year. please let me know what else i can do to help!

Can we park all our rigs in front of his house, and down his road in protest?
Just think if like 200 rigs all came together and just parked on the side of the road (both sides) and just stayed there for two hours or so.
I know this wouldn't happen, but I think if it was me, I'd be like "Oh, my God. I must have made a BIG mistake and pissed off a lot of people with a really dumb idea".
*** Also I know a lot of people on here have sleds so by no means do I want you guys to think I'm pissed at you. Unlike that jackass, you guys understand the 4x4 way of life. ***

I just can't get my blood to stop boiling!

I am just curious why there would be an elitist attitude from sledders? I would think the only division amongst nature lovers would be those who use an engine and those who don't...

Hi guys
New guy here, been involved in wheeling for a while. I signed the petition after seeing Tammys (NEA4WDC) post on that forum. Great job at getting on this, but I just wonder has there ever been any communication from the snomos to your group with regards to specific problems? Sometimes as someone posted it can be as simple as a schedule of use or a small bridge. I guess that they have not asked for help, because I probably would have heard it by now.

I'm working on my letter to the town council - its a modified version of the form letter with the following paragraph - this may not be the tone you all want, and ill not include it if requested not to, but:
"Further, closing a public road (albeit Class 6) to all but one group of recreational users seems to go against the equal protection under the law we all enjoy – we should keep public roads open for all to use and enjoy.
Closing this road to all would be a shame and a loss to so many, however arbitraily closing it to all but a select few and seems like a very contestable action likely resulting in lengthy and expensive litigation the town may not wish to defend."
ok ok - ill just use the form letter and not make waves...

Good idea. I think for the most part the town is on our side so no need to push back that hard. IMO

agreed, if this road becomes too much of a head ache for the town, it's easier to change it from a class 6 to a class A which will only allow foot traffic.
We need to show the town how important it is to us, but at the same time we can't be to agressive about it.
