Same here Mike, glad you didn't get hurt. The secondary didn't stop it? I had the same thing happen to me backnin the 80's with my MG. I was still working on it and the hood latches apparently were amother of the damaged items. Flew open at 50 getting onto rt 1 in Pa. Folded right over the tiny little windshield. It is not at all a pleasant feeling.

Yeah, I can relate with food related issues for sure. Nothing good ever comes of it.

same thing happened to me with my CJ but the hood came completely off, flew up and over, hit me in the head and landed in the road behind me. There was a pick up truck behind me but he was far enough back that it did not hit him and he didn't run over it. Thank goodness I had a roll bar cause that kept it from coming inside.

That stinks. I had that happen to me in my first car, an old POS 86 Ford Escort, then in my dads 88 Trooper about 6 months later. Also happened around the same time to a buddy while I was riding with him in an 80s Grand Am, and it shattered his windshield. I was beginning to think I was cursed! It came to the point where it was a pretty nonchalant ordeal to me. My buddy was freaking out. There must have been something inherently wrong with 80s hood latch designs. That, or I really was cursed...
